A Shadow PC alternative that bills by the hour
If you like the idea of cloud gaming but not the monthly commitment, RigRentals is the pay-as-you-go alternative to Shadow PC.
Shadow bills a fixed monthly subscription whether you play or not. RigRentals bills by the hour, so a weekend session costs a few dollars. You get a dedicated RTX GPU, a full desktop, and a stream to any browser — but you only pay for the hours you actually play.
What you get with RigRentals
- Hourly billing from $1.50/hr — no monthly subscription.
- Install your own games (single-player and DRM-free) instead of a fixed catalog.
- Crypto or card payment, no account needed for crypto.
- Plays in a browser on laptop, Chromebook, phone, tablet or Steam Deck.

Frequently asked questions
Is RigRentals cheaper than Shadow PC?
If you play in bursts rather than every day, almost certainly — you pay by the hour from $1.50 instead of a flat monthly fee, so you never pay for time you don't use.
Can I install my own games like on Shadow PC?
Yes. You get a full desktop and can install single-player and DRM-free titles through the built-in launcher with your own accounts.
